Albany, NY – Governor Cuomo announced on Saturday that the state’s 7-day average COVID positivity rate has fallen to its lowest number since the crisis began 14 months ago.

Cuomo says the positivity rate for the past seven days is 0.73%.

The previous low of 0.75% came last August.

In addition, 1,143 COVID patients are hospitalized statewide, the lowest number since October 31.

Governor Cuomo said that despite these numbers, the key to a secure future is getting more people vaccinated: “Our numbers have moved in the right direction – reaching an all time high since the start of this pandemic – and they continue to rise. do it because of what the people of this state have done. I encourage those who have not yet received their vaccine to take advantage of the current incentive programs and to do so. The vaccine is the best defense we have against COVID and now is the best time to do what needs to be done to protect our communities. ”
