Netflix has released the first official preview of Stranger Things Season 4.
The one-minute clip shows Hawkins National Lab test subjects quietly spending their day in the ominously titled Rainbow Room. Some play on the pachinko machines, while others engage in a game of chess. However, the numbers don’t quite match. Namely, a certain Eleven is missing from this flashback scene.Then we can hear the voice of what appears to be Dr. Brenner from Matthew Modine, former director of Hawkins Lab in Indiana. He greets the children in a typical creepy manner as we hear Eleven’s labored breathing emanating from his own bedroom.
Finally, Brenner asks a question: “Eleven, are you listening?” She might not be focused, but Netflix certainly has our attention. Time travel to a few years before the events of Stranger Things has everything we want from season four: it’s dark, cryptic, and looks set to dive into the deeper lore of what’s going on in it. ‘State of Hoosier.
Young Stranger Things stars also recently teased the upcoming season. Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin, called Season 4 the “scariest” season yet. While Mike’s actor Finn Wolfhard expects the series to drop in 2022.
No release date at the time of writing, but it’s good to know we’ll be back in Hawkins (and delving into Eleven’s past) sooner rather than later.
