Marvel fans laugh at the Eternal trailer to conveniently reconnect their absence from the MCU.
Directed by Nomadland Oscar winner Chloe Zhao, the new film stars Angelina Jolie as the leader of a group of ancient immortals who protect Earth from supernatural threats.

This will mark the first time the characters have appeared in the MCU, with the trailer explaining this with the following lines of dialogue: “We watched, without a guide; we have helped them progress and have seen them do wonders. Over the years, we have never intervened… until now.

However, fans are unsure why the Eternals did not interfere in the many instances where their help was needed – namely during the Meeting vigilantesthe Battle of New York, and when Thanos (Josh Brolin) wiped out half of all existence in Avengers: Infinity War.

” The Eternal waited until * now * to interfere in the affairs of mankind? I’m not going to lie, I have questions, ”one person wrote.

Another added with reference to World War II: “I just watched the Eternal trailer… so they’ve been around for 7,000 years and haven’t been around until… now? were they occupied between 1914 and 1945?

One fan said, “My biggest gripe with the way Marvel is setting up the Eternals is how they mentioned that they ‘didn’t feel like they had to intervene’ until now. But they watched Thanos, a partly Eternal Madman, collect all of the Infinity Stones and then wipe out half of the universe.

Eternals also stars Gemma Chan, Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Brian Tyree Henry, Barry Keoghan and Salma Hayek.

It hits theaters on November 11.
