Former Featherstone half-back Louis Jouffret has been added to the France training squad ahead of the World Cup.
Jouffret, 25, was in great shape at the elite French Championship for Avignon this season, after his transfer to Ottawa Aces failed due to their postponement.
He’s one of two changes made by coach Laurent Frayssinous, the other being a callback to Villeneuve’s prolific full-back Thomas Lasvenes.
Former Catalan half-back Lucas Albert, injured in Carcassonne last month, was due to join Toulouse at the end of the French season.
The other player who gives up his place is the support of the Catalans Paul Seguier.
The team will meet from May 30 to June 1 in Bordeaux.
Coach Frayssinous said: “I would like to thank all the coaches, the managers of the clubs who, despite their busy sporting calendar, continue to make their players available to France.
“So we can continue the work started and in this dedicated high level framework we are preparing with enthusiasm and passion for future events.”
