Leipzig leader admits Ibrahima Konate’s clause
RB Leipzig chief Oliver Mintzlaff has opened up about Ibrahima Konate’s future amid interest from Liverpool.
ECHO understands that the Reds have placed Konate on a list of five center-backs they will consider signing this summer.
Various reports have emerged over the past few weeks claiming that a deal is close to being made, but as it stands he is still a Leipzig player.
Liverpool may be on the hunt for a new center-back this summer, despite the return of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip at the start of next season.
Leipzig were involved in the DFB Pokal final against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday night, losing 4-1 to Borussia Dortmund.
After the game, Mintzlaff spoke to the media about Konate’s future and confirmed that the player has a release clause in his contract.
Konate is said to have a clause which could be activated if interested clubs pay £ 34million, but despite this Mintzlaff says he wants the player to stay in Leipzig.
