Henderson going to the Euros would be a “huge bet”
Virgil van Dijk will not make the Euros this summer with the Netherlands, but Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has not ruled out for England.
The Reds skipper has been sidelined since mid-February after suffering a groin injury, which required surgery, but posted images on his personal Instagram account of himself during the individual training over the weekend.
However, former England international Paul Robinson fears it will be a huge bet for Henderson to try and play in the tournament.
He told Football Insider:
“It would be a huge bet to take him if he hasn’t played in months, but we know how much Gareth Southgate loves him. He’s so important in the role of midfielder and Gareth loves to play two.
“Southgate will be in contact with Liverpool and they will have a plan in place for Henderson.
“He has a little less than a month to get back into shape, so it doesn’t matter if Henderson plays again this season, he has plenty of time to get back into shape.
“If he’s able to get in shape, that’s another question. Time is on its side because the tournament does not start until June 11. ”
