When a Jewish woman in the play confronted Stanfield about why he was allowing hate speech to continue unchecked, he sidestepped the issue and hinted that he was trying to stay neutral … according to The daily beast.
For some people in the room, this was the inexcusable behavior of an influential Hollywood star with 79,000 followers on the Clubhouse app… and they question his intentions.
Now, LaKeith joined another Clubhouse discussion Thursday hosted by a panel of Jewish educators who wanted to address the hate speech they had witnessed… and he admitted he had failed to moderate.
He said that if he continues to choose to be a moderator in a certain room, he has to “pay attention to what is really being discussed and determine if this is a discussion that you really want to get into”.
Stanfield also explained that he lacked knowledge about “the origins of Judaism in Jewishness,” but suggested that he enjoys the Clubhouse because he learns a lot from it.
He said… “I’ve been in a few rooms where a lot of shit has been discussed and discussed, very heightened emotional states. It has been very informative and interesting for me. “
LaKeith’s response was well received in the room. Apart from that, however, you must be wondering how a 29-year-old man hasn’t seen grossly anti-Semitic language for what it is… hate speech.
