Brut couldn’t quite keep up with last week’s momentum.
It’s a shame, but I think it’s mainly because, as I’ll say in a moment, WWE is a rehearsal. It’s not just a Brut problem. Smack down has it too, but Smack down also Roman Reigns.
And Roman Reigns is THE best thing in WWE wrestling right now.
Charlotte Flair and RK-Bro are second and third.
WrestleMania Backlash is Sunday, and I’m still trying to figure out why it’s called that. There was no need for it. Most WrestleMania the matches have been replayed, and some of them have been replayed more than once! Why?
Let’s move on to the main successes and shortcomings of this show. For a complete overview of Brut, check out Claire Elizabeth’s live blog!
I miss that
I didn’t want to put this at the top of features, but I have to.
Okay so before WrestleManiaI really liked Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre. They were really exciting and I was great in Lashley as a champion.
Then WrestleMania went and I started not caring anymore. This is because the former members of RETRIBUTION MACE and T-BAR suddenly got involved for what I first thought was a reason, but then they disappeared. Braun Strowman was involved at the same time, and they just made back-to-back reservations with him and McIntyre. It was stupid.
Leave it to WWE to get me out of my mind pretty quickly. Just a matter of a few weeks, really. Now I don’t care about one of my favorites from last year, Drew Mac, one of my new favorite champions at Lashley, one of the Raw’s best speakers, MVP, and that makes me sad.
There was a match. Strowman stepped in and caused a shutdown. He attacked the two men. Okay.
Boring. Therefore a lot of repetition. See you on Sunday.
Nothing like big juicy stakes. (Vegan “stake” for me, thank you!)
Fashionable Priest Damian spoke to Adam Pearce and made sure that in this match with the Moist Wanted, whoever won could pick the stipulation for the Priest and Miz match at WrestleMania Backlash.
Morrison started his match with a lot of urgency. Lots of hard punches and kicks that look great. Miz got involved and kicked Priest in the face without the ref seeing it. It was after they both clashed before a commercial. It was the odd moment to take a break there, as it looked like he might have been distracted enough to be counted.
The priest returned with a bunch of nasty kicks and forearms. Miz kept playing with him and Morrison was going to do the Spanish Fly, but Priest got out.
And then the stupid Miz came back last week. Once again, the referee was distracted by him on the apron, and Morrison won the match, but the referee did not arrive on time. Now Priest can pick the stipulation for Sunday’s game. So he went to Adam Pearce and said he wanted a lumberjack match so Miz couldn’t run away.
Miz has been very entertaining the past few weeks in this role as Cain A. Knight called him in the Cageside office, “heinous ringside asshole.”
Very precise, and probably why I like it more.
Since Bad Bunny left, Miz and Morrison have been a lot more entertaining. If it’s Bunny’s sacrifice not to be there, okay!
Charlotte Flair is wonderful (Rhea Ripley beat Asuka)
We have seen this game twice. We will see these women in a triple threat on Sunday. So I watch this game play out yeah, okay I saw it all before then the queen came out. Everything changed.
By the way, I should mention that The Queen is really the reason this match happened, because of course! It’s not called The Opportunity for nothing!
Flair got some feedback and all I could focus on was her conversation. I usually don’t care about the people on the comments. But when Saxton asked her the obvious thing we all want to know about what’s going on between her and Sonya Deville, Charlotte replied, “I didn’t hear you. Bla bla bla »HAHAHAHAHA. It was wonderful. Charlotte is wonderful. It’s a great new iteration of his character.
Oh yeah and Rhea won.
Asuka, Brooke, and Rose defeated Flair, Jax, and Baszler
Oh look – a 6 person tag involving people arguing. It’s a bit familiar, isn’t it? It started out as a standard match, and then Alexa and Lilly appeared on stage. Bliss said Lilly was watching one of the six women in the ring and they continued to swing as the match continued. I really burst out laughing at that, and the way the advertisers then were trying to make it all sane as they kept calling for action.
….And ensuite Baszler lost control of her legs and Asuka pinned her to win the match. Yes, all of you. Lilly possessed Shayna for a while and stopped her in her tracks so she could be pinned down. Makes his legs wobbly and everything. Wow. Remarkable. Great way to end the game. By the way, it would make more sense for Alexa and Lilly to target Rhea Ripley, right? After all, she threw Alexa out of the Rumble royal but WWE has probably already forgotten that.
Riddle, Orton, and New Day defeated Styles, Omos, Elias, and Ryker
Oh look – an 8 person tag involving people arguing. It’s a bit familiar, isn’t it? All of you, Omos is very entertaining in the ring and I didn’t expect it to be. I love his growls and facial expressions. Riddle just vibrating with New Day with Orton shaking his head to be in that situation was awesome. The heels did a great job isolating Woods in their corner until he was finally able to score Riddle who has no lost moves. It’s a super hot tag. Orton took advantage of New Day being New Day and RKO’ed Elias to win.
Then because he wanted to, Orton RKO turned to Woods and Kingston. Riddle shouted, “How are we going to have friends?” »LMAO! Xavier was awesome because he didn’t telegraph this RKO so I was surprised by that. This is good stuff.
I like it all.
Shelton Benjamin a battu Cedric Alexander
Prime Alexander was in control and tried to really hurt Benjamin. Benjamin went to do Pay Dirt and Alexander was always able to avoid him. Alexander just spoke and kicked Benjamin, until Shelton did a suplex out of nowhere and got the spit. It was a beautiful ending. I thought Cédric was winning but it was the best scenario for the moment because Cédric will get this big victory soon.
Well that sucks
Sheamus and Humberto Carrillo had a decent game, then Carrillo did a Sunset Flip powerbomb from the ring to the floor, and it looked like Sheamus got down hard on Carrillo’s knee and they stopped the game. I hope he is doing well!
Jinder Mahal a battu Jeff Hardy
The Maharaja is back, I guess. And he brought in a backup named Veer and Shanky. Big boys. Sorry Jeff.
Quality: C +
What do you think, Cagesiders?
