In the original, Moses mobilized his friends against a group of wicked aliens seeking to take over their neighborhood. Joe Cornish writes and directs the sequel, and he will produce with Boyega (via her UpperRoom Productions banner), Nira Park (via the new Complete Fiction banner she formed with Cornish and Edgar Wright) and James Wilson. The four teamed up to make the original film.
The plot of the sequel remains secret.
Boyega just had a turning point in BBC / Amazon Prime drama directed by Steve McQueen Small ax, and before that playing Finn in the Star wars movies, but it was the turn of 2011 Attacking the block that started it. The film came out of nowhere to win the Audience Award at the SXSW and Los Angeles festivals.
“It has been a decade since Attacking the block was released and so much has changed since then, ”Boyega said. “I am delighted to see this exacerbated story return to the streets of London. Moses has remained one of my favorite characters to play and bringing him back is a huge honor.
Said Cornish: “I am delighted that we are officially announcing our return to the world of Attacking the block on the tenth anniversary of the film’s release. I can’t wait to work alongside John again, bringing audiences an even greater share of the downtown alien action.
