The company released a teaser video for its Weibo grip. The video shows the HarmonyOS start-up screen which displays “Huawei” before displaying the “HarmonyOS” logo. The note at the end of the teaser states that a launch conference will announce both Harmony OS and a product will debut. That product is expected to be the Huawei MatePad2, which would be the first device to bring HarmonyOS out of the box.
Huawei has previously expressed its goal of having 300 million devices running HarmonyOS by the end of this year, with a third of those expected to be new devices that ship with the factory’s new operating system.
Earlier this month, we saw a video comparing Huawei’s current Android EMUI 11 side-by-side with HarmonyOS on different devices. At first glance, HarmonyOS is visually similar to EMUI 11 and can still be Android based. In any case, we’ll wait until we get our hands on the new software.
