Fraser Health continues to shut down businesses due to transmission of COVID-19, however, the Tri-Cities have seen a sharp reduction in cases in recent days

A Coquitlam gas station is the latest local business to be closed due to COVID-19 transmission.

Fraser Health yesterday closed Petro Canada (Mayfair), located at 176 Golden Drive in Coquitlam.

The gas station is in a busy industrial area on the corner of Golden Drive and United Boulevard.

It is one of the many companies recently closed to prevent the transmission of viruses.

Also Thursday, Prabu Foods, located at 8035-130 St. in Surrey, was closed.

Closures are typically for 10 days, or as determined by the medical officer of health, to prevent further transmission of COVID-19 and to allow time to update and approve the COVID security plan -19 of the site.

In accordance with the provincial directive, workplace closures are posted publicly on health authority websites. Once businesses are allowed to reopen, the list is deleted.

The shutdown comes as the Tri-Cities had 167 cases last week (May 2-8), according to the BC Center for Disease Control, a 40% drop from the previous week when there were 277 case.
