Halsey, Khalid, Benny Blanco and Ed Sheeran sued “Eastside” – fr

In the documents, obtained by TMZ, Lois and Williams sue for copyright infringement and sue not only Halsey, Khalid and Blanco – but also Ed Sheeran, who is credited as a songwriter on “Eastside,” as well as the labels that have distributed him. They say the similarities are pretty obvious… at least to their ears.

The pair break down in excruciating detail what they claim to be nearly identical note dyads, similar note intervals, similar tempos, and a full familiar rhythm – and it doesn’t seem like they think it’s a coincidence no more… pointing to Blanco interviews given they say they prove their case.

In a Vibe article, Blanco is quoted as saying that he listens to 10 to 12 new artists every day in the hopes of finding inspiration for ideas that he could try out on his own. Based on their lawsuit, Lois and Williams seem to believe that Benny stumbled upon their ditty somehow – which was streaming at the time – and then raised parts of it for “Eastside.” .

You can listen to the 2 songs yourself and make up your own mind.

BTW, Sheeran just got put in here because he was a co-writer on “Eastside,” but it’s worth mentioning … the most famous, “Let’s Get It On”, which he would have transformed into “Thinking Out Loud”.
