Google Weather is killing the hamburger menu – fr

The arrival of gesture-based navigation on Android didn’t bode well for hamburger menus, and Google is now actively removing them. The Google Play Store recently killed the hamburger menu, and now the Google Weather app is following suit.

Spotted by people at 9to5Google, the weather section of the google app has been redesigned to accommodate this newer, simpler style. The hamburger menu that used to switch between different Google accounts and switch between temperature units has been replaced with a menu that appears when you tap the profile icon.

Google weather: old vs new

In terms of functionality, you won’t miss out on anything old or see anything new; all of the same options are still available. However, one immediately noticeable difference is that the status bar no longer matches the weather conditions – it’s painted white no matter what.

The new design appears to be rolling out with the Google app v12.20 on the beta channel. To check if you have received it, press the In one look widget or search for the weather in the google app. If you don’t have it yet, you might want to give it a try by downloading the latest version of APK Mirror.
