Georginio Wijnaldum: Barcelona and Bayern Munich target Liverpool midfielder in free transfer

Barcelona and Bayern Munich are looking to sign Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum for a free transfer this summer.

Wijnaldum, 30, confirmed on Sunday that he will leave Liverpool at the end of his contract next month after five years at the club.

The Dutch midfielder, who will captain his country at Euro this summer, is also a target for four other anonymous clubs.

Wijnaldum, who has made 237 appearances for Liverpool since arriving from Newcastle in July 2016, has won the Champions League and Premier League in consecutive seasons during his time at Anfield.


Gini Wijnaldum said he had hoped to play “many more years for the club” and would like to explain the story of his departure at a later date.

“I was hoping to play for many more years for the club, but unfortunately things have changed, I think everyone in football knows anything can happen, but the current situation is that on July 1 I am no longer a Liverpool player, ”said Wijnaldum. Wijnaldum has been the subject of transfer interests from Barcelona over the past year, with current boss Ronald Koeman keen to bring his compatriot to Camp Nou.

Sky Sports are analyzing Liverpool’s plans and priorities as they look to bolster their defense center, while the Reds could also be looking for a midfielder replacement for Wijnaldum.
