Fred, Maguire and Martial – Manchester United injury summary against Villarreal – fr

Time is running out for Harry Maguire to prove his form ahead of the Europa League final in Gdansk.
In pursuit of a first trophy under the direction of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and since 2017, the Norwegian has already poured cold water on the prospect of aligning his captain against the opponents of La Liga Villarreal tomorrow night (8 p.m.) .

Maguire has, however, traveled with the team as they prepare to land in Poland.

After consolidating second place in the Premier League ahead of their Europa League clash, United suffered several injury setbacks during the build-up.

Indeed, after Maguire was beaten by a sizable challenge with Aston Villa striker Anwar El Ghazi, midfield duo Fred and Scott McTominay were both hit in a draw 1- 1 against Fulham.

McTominay returned to the submarine bench for the final day’s victory at Wolves – a Premier League clash that also saw Dan James belatedly claim his inclusion in Gdansk.

Here’s the current state of play with injuries as United prepare to get down to business against Villarreal.

Fred

Injury: Knock (May 18 vs. Fulham)

Possible return date: May 26 against Villarreal

What Solskjaer said: “Fred doesn’t look great when he walks now. But we have eight days [until the final] and I hope that everyone who was available today [against Fulham] will be available. ”

Phil Jones

Injury: Knee

Return date: Next season

What Solskjaer said: “He works very hard. He’s had a few setbacks and it’s an injury you have to be patient with. I don’t know how long it will last, how long does a piece of rope last?

“That’s how I felt when I came back from an injury. I hope this season, but if not the start of the next. “

Harry Maguire

Injury: Ankle (May 9 vs Aston Villa)

Possible return date: May 26 against Villarreal

What Solskjaer said: “He walks, but it’s a long road between walking and running, to be honest. I don’t think we’ll see it in Gdansk. But I’m going to give him until Tuesday night, the last workout, to see if he can. He’s improving steadily but surely, but the ligaments take a long time to heal.

“He’s a very important person in the locker room and a leader. Before the fans came you all heard him from the stands, he always wants the team to do well, he even organizes from the stands which was easy because it’s been so quiet. He will come, he will be in the locker room, he will make sure everyone is ready for the final.

Anthony Martial

Injury: Knee (supported in international service)

Return date: Next season

What Solskjaer had said: “I hope we will see him before the end of the season. He supports the team, he wants to be part of the final and he works hard to be available before that. ”
