Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was released from hospital on Saturday after being admitted earlier in the week with complications from coronavirus infection last year.

The 84-year-old man, who has been hospitalized and released in recent weeks, managed to get out of San Raffaele Hospital in Milan while avoiding a crowd of photographers and TV cameras awaiting his release outside one of the doors power stations.

Italian newswire AGI wrote that Berlusconi was on his way to his home outside Milan after being released.

He was admitted on Tuesday, the fourth time this year the media mogul has been hospitalized.

“Berlusconi is a lion,” his Forza Italia party leader Antonio Tajani told Skytg24 television before his release.

“He had problems, he had a fever, but I think in a few hours he will be out of San Raffaele. “

Berlusconi has dominated public life in Italy for decades, but has been held up by a series of health issues in recent years, including open heart surgery in 2016.

He was admitted to a Monaco hospital with heart problems in January, just months after spending 11 days in hospital in September after contracting coronavirus.
