United players aim to persuade Kane
Manchester United’s England internationals want their club to sign Harry Kane. The 27-year-old England international has made it clear he wants to leave Tottenham, and the Sun have said his national team-mates Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire will use their time at Euro 2020 to persuade him to move on to United ahead Manchester City.

Paper Round’s point of view: United are unlikely to be able to afford Kane if City are to have him. They can afford the £ 150million that Daniel Levy would be interested in. However, if United players can get Kane to want to switch to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it could help convince Spurs to lower their asking price, but it still seems the most likely that he ends up with Pep Guardiola.
Romero ready for Everton, United target Heaton
Manchester United’s 34-year-old reserve goalkeeper Sergio Romero is a target for both Everton and Juventus. The Daily Mail suggests they want him as a replacement for their respective top goaltenders. In turn, United will look to bring in Tom Heaton, 35, from Aston Villa, as Lee Grant is also set to be released from the club this summer.
Paper Round’s point of view: Grant and Romero are almost certain to both leave, but another consideration is that the club will likely try to move David de Gea from the club due to his huge salary. Heaton would be a wise replacement, given he knows the club and the Premier League, and would be able to step in if Dean Henderson couldn’t face a full season as a first choice.
Chelsea aim for Rice’s return
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel wants the club to re-sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice. The 22-year-old England international has long been a target for Chelsea and they could offer £ 90million to seal his signing, according to the Telegraph. Tammy Abraham could be used as a partial exchange, and Aurelien Tchouameni and Julian Weigl of Monaco are cheaper alternatives.
Paper Round’s point of view: Rice has been at the heart of West Ham’s strong season, with one game to go, but it looks like he has little time left with his current club. The asking price of £ 90million seems pretty high given the impact of the coronavirus, but it’s understandable that West Ham isn’t in the mood to allow another club to take one of their best players.
Martinez linked to Madrid clubs
Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have both been in contact with Lautaro Martinez’s representatives, Spanish newspaper Marca reports. The 23-year-old Argentina international could be lined up to replace Luis Suarez, who can leave Atletico this summer, and for Real Madrid he represents another option if they fail in their pursuit of Erling Haaland.
Paper Round’s point of view: Martinez could see this as a good time to leave Inter Milan as he now has a medal winner and could leave as a hero, on good terms. Inter’s financial woes also mean they may be willing to do business to ease the impact of their spending under Antonio Conte, who will likely want further reinforcements this summer.
