Olga Volkova and Yevgeny Karlagin, both 35, were seen arguing in anger as passers-by were filming the picturesque view of the street in St. Petersburg, Russia.
They were rushed to hospital where they underwent surgery for serious but not life threatening injuries after crashing to the ground from the second floor of their apartment building.
In footage taken around 10 a.m., the balcony railings appear to come loose when the couple lean on them, causing them to lose their balance and fall through.
Authorities in St. Petersburg are now reportedly investigating the incident after the couple, who have a young son together, reportedly suffered broken limbs.
The prosecution is checking whether the balcony was poorly fitted out or in poor condition, which has led to legal proceedings against those responsible.
Eyewitness Denis told the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper: “I was walking with my colleague and filming the historic view of the street. “I noticed the argument and started shooting when it happened.
“Someone with medical experience was nearby and checked their pulse, saying they both survived. We called an ambulance. “
