There has been speculation about the sequel for years. After many doubts Edge of tomorrow and its concept, it was the surprise action hit of 2014. It was without a doubt one of my favorite movies of the year and it’s also one of my favorite action movies and l ‘one of the best action characters (Emily Blunt as Rita Vrataski, aka Angel of Verdun). Fans are salivating for another movie! Recently, Emily Blunt clarified the situation on the Edge of tomorrow 2, and sadly, it looks like another Edge is not on the horizon.
Blunt appeared on the Spectacle d’Howard Stern on May 11 and told the show host Edge of tomorrow 2 is too expensive for Warners Bros. to film right now.
“Honestly, I think the movie is probably overpriced. Yeah, I just don’t know how we’re gonna do it. I think it’s hard to match everyone’s schedules. I would love it. Doug Liman would love to. Tom would love to. We would all like to do it. But I think until we understand what’s going on in the industry – honestly, I think we need to figure out what’s the next roadmap for the types of movies people want to make? ”
Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt stars in Doug Liman Edge of tomorrow (2014), and the rule of thumb is that Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is thrown into a war with aliens. He is covered in Alien goo and has the power to relive the same day over and over again, the day starting anew each time he dies. Writers Christopher Mcquarrie, Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth adapted the story from Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s Japanese manga, All you need is to kill.
This is such far-fetched news, but understandably WB would be reluctant to spend that kind of money in the wake of the pandemic. It would be too risky with theaters opening and people are still hesitant to see the films in person.
Are you as sad as me about no Edge of tomorrow 2? Let me know in the comments!
