Ellen DeGeneres Confirms She Ends Talk Show Amid ‘Appalling’ Hearings – fr

Ellen DeGeneres is ending her talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, after 18 seasons.

The comedian is believed to be planning another series, but will leave our screens at the end of the 2021/2022 season.

The Hollywood Reporter says the 63-year-old spoke to her staff to brief them on the news on May 11 and will discuss her decision in more detail in a conversation with Oprah Winfrey on May 13.

“When you’re a creative person, you have to be constantly challenged – and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s no longer a challenge,” she told the post.

“Ellen was and still is an indelible part of the television landscape, and we will be sorely missed,” added Mike Darnell, President of Warner Bros. Unscripted TV.

News of the Ellen DeGeneres show’s ending was first reported by DailyMail.com, with an insider telling the publication her ratings have been “really appalling” since reports emerged of a “location.” toxic work ‘behind the scenes.

They said she would make an announcement about her future today because she had “had enough”.

“She has promised one more season after this and will leave at the end of the 2021/2022 season,” they said.

“The odds have dropped and been really terrible this year and Ellen knows her time is up.

“The show has bled viewers since the toxic environment around Ellen and her show went public. “

Last summer, allegations of misconduct were made behind the scenes of the Ellen DeGeneres Show, with anonymous employees claiming they worked in an environment of racism, fear and intimidation.

Some have accused executive producers of widespread sexual assault and sexual harassment.

The presenter subsequently made a candid statement in September of last year, addressing the allegations.

“As you may have heard, this summer there were allegations of a toxic work environment on our show and then there was an investigation,” she said.

“I have learned that things have happened here that should never have happened. I take this very seriously and want to say that I am very sorry for the people who have been affected.

“I know I’m in a position of privilege and power and I’ve realized that comes with responsibility, and I take responsibility for what happens on my show.

“We’ve had a lot of conversations over the past few weeks about the show, where we work and what we want for the future. We have made the necessary changes and today we are starting a new chapter ”.

It was revealed that as a result of the emerging allegations his show lost over a million viewers.

According to data measurement firm Nielsen, the show saw a sharp drop in audience following the reporting of the allegations.

The New York Times reported that in the six months leading up to March 2021, the show averaged around 1.5 million viewers, more than a million fewer than the same period the year before.
