EastEnders spoilers follow.
I’m a celebrity… Get me out of here! Star Harry Redknapp is set to pay a very special visit to EastEnders.
The great footballer recently hinted that he filmed scenes with Danny Dyer for an upcoming episode of the soap opera, and now the BBC has confirmed that Redknapp will be making an appearance EastEnders this summer.
Redknapp is set to appear in a special episode coinciding with the European Championships, where his West Ham United heritage will give him a warm welcome upon his arrival at Walford.
“What better way to mark a special summer for football fans than by inviting none other than West Ham legend Harry Redknapp to visit Walford,” executive producer Jon Sen revealed.
“He is synonymous with the East End of London and we were delighted to hear that he is also a fan of the series. We can’t wait for the public to see what brings Harry to Albert Square. “
The delayed Euro 2020 tournament is set to take place over the summer months, with matches taking place at Wembley Stadium, a short walk from football-obsessed Mick and Vic.
“It’s no secret that I wanted to be EastEnders so I am delighted to make a special appearance this summer, ”announced the footballer.
“With a nod to the Euros it’s a great combination and as a true East Londoner it’s been so much fun. [My wife] Sandra is a big fan, she watches it every day so it’s a real special moment for the whole family! ”
Redknapp follows in the footsteps of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Catherine Tate, Robbie Williams and Lord Alan Sugar as the famous face who made an appearance EastEnders over the years.
EastEnders will continue later this week, Thursday May 6 at 7:30 p.m. on BBC One.
