Dustin Johnson faces Greg Norman with questionable major mark – fr


KIAWAH ISLAND, SC – World No.1 Dustin Johnson became the first highest-ranked player to miss the cup in back-to-back major championships since Greg Norman in 1997, but he wasn’t the only top player to fight at the PGA Championship.

Johnson, who retired from AT&T Byron Nelson last week with a diseased knee, opened with a 76 and quickly fell out of the cup with a 2-point opening nine on Friday. Although he made the seventh hole a par 5 and birdied the ninth, he finished with a 74 for a total of 6 on to miss the cup with a shot. He declined to speak to the media after his tour.

World No.2 Justin Thomas also missed the cup in the second major of the year with consecutive rounds of 75. It was the first time he missed the cup at the PGA Championship, which he won. in 2017.
