Disney Parks President Josh D’Amaro unveiled the lightsaber as part of the “Special Look at Disney Parks” virtual event in April, but no photos or videos have been made available … until now.
To celebrate Star Wars Day (May 4 with you), Disney Parks shared a brief video of an actor in Rey costume lighting the laser sword.
Of course, the saber’s “blade” isn’t actually a laser (you won’t be disarming Walrus Man with this baby), but we’re sure you’ll agree that the overall effect is quite impressive and looks like a real lightsaber.
We still don’t know if this will eventually become available to the public for purchase (if so, expect to shell out a parcel money to get their hands on), but for now fans will have to wait until 2022 Galactic starcruiser attraction to seeing the characters “wield the new lightsaber, which was created by Walt Disney Imagineering to create dramatic in-person moments previously only seen in movies or shows.” “
“When the Launch Pod’s airlock opens, you’ll take your first step into a galaxy far, far away as Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser comes to life all around you,” the blurb continues. While aboard this glamorous vessel, you will be able to interact with an eclectic group of characters both familiar and new, including perhaps the strong and charismatic captain of the starcruiser, the mechanic of a brave vessel and a superstar. galactic that can captivate an entire room with the bandit a jewel-encrusted purple Twi’lek finger.
