Campbell made an appearance on the “Pardon My Take” podcast on Sunday where he shared an idea he actually pitched to Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp about the presence of a pet lion. around the team’s training center.
“I don’t think we’re going to be able to do it, but I literally wish I had just a companion lion. Just a legitimate pet lion on a channel, a big ass chain, and he really is my pet, ”Campbell said on the podcast. “We walk around the building, we go out to practice, we’re seven to seven, we’re behind the kicker when he’s kicking.
Campbell further imagined that the lion would be “made to order”. Campbell joked that if a group of stances didn’t work out well, he could ask the lion to relieve himself in front of the group.
“I mean, think about it,” he said. “It would be exceptional. “
Campbell also made national headlines during his introductory press conference in January, most notably with his impromptu responses that included his vision of a team tough enough to “bite a kneecap.” The reference to the lion was just the latest example, although he doubts that will ever happen.
“The problem is, I don’t know if PETA is going to allow this, however. It’s going to be tough, ”Campbell said. “Believe me, we would take great care of it.” He would be well fed, he would be stroked, he would be manicured. I might end up losing an arm because of it, but that would be even better because it would validate what, he’s a creepy, he’s a creature now. It’s an animal. This thing is nature. ”
