Olga Volkova and Yevgeny Karlagin dived onto the sidewalk after crashing into the railings during a row

It’s the terrifying moment when a couple smashed their balcony railings and plunged 25 feet to the sidewalk below after arguing.

Footage shows Olga Volkova and Yevgeny Karlagin, both 35, struggling on the floor of the second-story balcony of their home in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Saturday morning.

As the couple argued, they crashed into the balcony railings which suddenly gave way and knocked the couple down onto the concrete below.

Ms Volkova was wearing underwear with a dress or blanket wrapped around her when they fell, while Mr Karlagin was fully dressed.

The couple were rushed to hospital with “serious” injuries, local media reported.

Both are believed to have suffered broken limbs, but they are not in critical condition.

Eyewitnesses said they saw the two, who have a young son, arguing around 10 a.m. before being thrown from the balcony.

Witness Denis told the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper: “I was walking with my colleague and filming the historic view of the street.

“I noticed the argument and started shooting when it happened.

“A person with medical experience was nearby and checked their pulse, claiming that they both survived.

“We called an ambulance. “

The St. Petersburg prosecutor’s office is investigating whether the balcony was in poor condition, which could lead to prosecution.

The building, located in the historic center of Saint Petersburg, dates from 1833.
