Everton’s European aspirations seem unlikely after his home loss to long-distance club Sheffield United on Sunday.
They are currently ninth in the Premier League table but could finish anywhere from sixth to tenth depending on their own results and those of other teams – they face Wolves on Wednesday, followed by Manchester City on Sunday.
Ancelotti described the engagement of some of his players in the shock loss as “unacceptable” and criticized his team’s inconsistency, with the loss marking the ninth time they have been beaten at Goodison in this Championship campaign.
“I don’t want to have disgruntled players here,” said Ancelotti. “If there are players who are not happy to stay where they can ask to go.
“I want to have players who want to stay at Everton and feel included in this project.
“It’s for all players. I can’t force any player to stay here. But I told them this recently. They know that. If someone is not happy, they have to go. “
“A disgruntled player will not be a good part of this project. “
Following this latest loss, Ancelotti has admitted he is’ embarrassed ‘by his side’s home form this season and hopes the fans’ return to their final league game at Goodison against Wolves will wake up his players.
Speaking about the reaction he expects from his players, the Italian added: “I don’t want to name any players but most of them, the commitment for the match. [against Sheffield United] was absolutely not good.
“It was unacceptable because the game was so important. I hope for a reaction tomorrow. “
