Professional golfer Dan Bowling is in bad shape.
The links star, 26, from La Coruña, Ont. South of Sarnia, has been arrested for allegedly sexting a detective posing as a 15-year-old girl.
According to the cops, Bowling had been engaging in steamy online chats since at least April. And the court was brief.
“(The conversations) became sexual in nature within the first 24 hours and quickly escalated,” Florida police said.
Bowling, described by investigators as a “dangerous online predator”, was arrested Thursday in Orlando “as he arrived to meet the lure”.
He was charged with obscene communication, traveling to meet a minor, and attempted obscene and lascivious molestation.
“Unfortunately, there are potentially hundreds of predators like Mr. Bowling online,” said Jennifer Wing of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
“I hope the news of today’s arrest encourages parents to be more proactive in monitoring their children’s lives online.”
While the Orlando Police Department described Bowling as a “top golfer on the PGA Tour,” Yahoo! Sports reports that the Canadian has not competed as a professional since 2016.
At that time, he was playing in the sport’s minor leagues on a lower tour of this country. Bowling is also not included in the official ranking of world golf.
