Raphinha has drawn attention since moving to the Premier League last summer and starred in Leeds’ 3-1 win over Spurs at Elland Road on Saturday.
The 24-year-old’s form has seen him heavily linked with a move away from Marcelo Bielsa, United’s side among those linked with a potential transfer.
Raphinha assisted Rodrigo for Leeds’ third goal against Spurs, bringing his number of assists to seven this season in the Premier League.
United ace Fernandes has a good relationship with Raphinha after the duo’s stint at Portuguese club Sporting and he was among the many to send a message to his former team-mate following the result.
Fernandes responded to Raphinha’s Instagram with a post that translates to, “I’m a fan” – which may suggest he’s open to the possibility of a reunion at Old Trafford next season.
Among those who have backed United to take a step for Raphinha this summer is former midfielder Owen Hargreaves.
The Reds scored a stunning 6-2 first leg victory to almost secure their passage to the final in Gdansk on May 26. Their return leg in Rome ended 3-2, meaning they got an aggregate victory of 8-5.

While United’s main focus this summer is securing the services of a new striker, Hargreaves presented a different case to BT Sport last month.
“A lot of people have played on that right side and they haven’t really found it. I think going to find a winger, Jadon Sancho would be amazing.
“You think of Raphinha at Leeds, you think of what he could do in this United team. You can’t spend £ 100million on every player. “
