Brad Pitt awarded joint custody of his children with Angelina Jolie

Brad Pitt got joint custody of his children with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie.

The interim decision comes after a long series of legal proceedings in California over the custody of their five minor children.

The Hollywood stars are the parents of twins Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 14 and 12, Vivienne and Knox, but their eldest child Maddox, 19, is not subject to the custody decision.

The PA news agency reported hiring a private judge whose decision was based on testimony, including from professionals who spoke to the children.

This will “dramatically increase” the time Pitt can spend with the children, a source quoted said.

According to the US media outlet Page Six, Jolie did not oppose the decision but there were “other matters of concern”.

She had criticized the judge for not allowing the children to testify and tried to have him excluded from the case, accusing him of having a professional relationship with members of her ex-husband’s team.

The two actors met on the set of the movie Mr & Mrs Smith in 2005. They married in 2014 but Jolie filed for divorce two years later.

The divorce was finalized in April 2019.

Pitt had been accused of abusing Maddox, then 15, but an investigation did not result in any charges.

Jolie told Vogue last year that she left the marriage for the sake of her family, describing her children as “very brave, very strong young people.”

In 2017, Pitt told GQ how he had quit drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana, saying, “For me every misstep has been a step towards epiphany, understanding, a kind of joy.

“Yeah, avoiding pain is a real mistake. This is the real lack of life. ”
