Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds are due to tie the knot next year.

The Prime Minister, 56, and Ms Symonds, 33, sent backup cards to friends and family for the July 30, 2022 event, reports The Sun.

The couple got engaged in 2019 but had to delay the wedding due to the coronavirus crisis.

It is not yet clear where they will celebrate the occasion, but the couple’s friends say they will host the big rally next year, when the Covid crisis is hopefully subsided.

The couple chose to live in the larger four-bedroom apartment at No.11 Downing Street instead of the smaller two-bedroom official residence at No.10.

They share a dog, Dilyn, with the Prime Minister saying he helped reduce his stress during the election campaign.

It has been suggested in the past that Ms Symonds cannot become a full ‘first lady’ until the couple are married.

Mr Johnson was shy when asked about the subject in 2019, telling reporters speculation about the marriage was “a bit premature”.

Their engagement and the news that Ms Symonds was pregnant was announced in February last year.

Mr Johnson, who has been married twice previously, finalized his divorce from ex-wife Marina Wheeler, with whom he has two daughters and two sons, in the same month.

Wilfred, the son of Mr Johnson and Ms Symonds, was born in April of that year.

The couple were first pictured together in 2018, during a fundraiser.
