Booker T recalls interesting story of ultimate warrior asking to be trained – fr

On the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T, WWE Hall of Famer, discussed the Ultimate Warrior after the broadcast of Biographie: Ultimate Warrior on A&E last Sunday. Booker, who was also the subject of a recent A&E bio, recalls meeting Warrior in the late 2000s when Warrior was training for a wrestling comeback. Booker shared a story of Warrior calling him to ask if he could help Warrior get back in shape for his return match.

“I was with the Ultimate Warrior for sure,” Booker said. “I didn’t really know him personally, but I was there when the Ultimate Warrior wanted to make his comeback (in the 2000s). 2008, 09 and he was going to come back to do a show in Australia. He actually wanted me to help him, to get him in shape for this game. I was pretty excited that the Ultimate Warrior got in touch with me to get him in shape for this game.

“So I would get together to finally talk to him about it.” He goes, it’s pretty funny, he says’ hey man. I will come and train with you. How about I go down Thursday? And the point is, I’m the only one who pretty much knows the story, so I can’t confirm it or anything like that. It’s not a bad story. But he said, “Why don’t I go down Thursday and train with you, start preparing for this game?” I’ll get off, probably land at 12, get there around 2, train around 4, and take a flight around 6.

“He wanted to train with me for two hours to prepare for a match when he hadn’t worked for over ten years! “

In the end, the lack of time led Booker to refuse to help Warrior. The blame then fell on Rob Van Dam, who Booker said had done a good job of getting Warrior into a ring shape.

“I told him ‘brother, I’m sorry, but I can’t do anything in just two hours,’ Booker said. “I said ‘it’s going to take a little longer than that to work with you, to get ready.’ I think he was closer to California, so he went to work with RVD for this game. I watched the game and they worked for a little while in that game and it looked like his cardio was there so it sounded like anything. Whatever Rob has done, Rob sometimes does things from a wizard’s point of view. If that doesn’t work, we can try that. It might be a little unorthodox, but it will get you there.
