The Old Toll Bar on Accrington Road said in a statement that “guest safety is number one priority” and that they will not tolerate “violence or any threatening behavior”.
Pub management has promised to introduce new measures to tackle any violence in the pub, including hiring pub security staff on weekends, with all drinks served in plastic cups and last orders being brought forward at 9 p.m.
A spokesperson for the pub said: “Due to yesterday’s incident we will not be reopening today. Customer safety is our number one priority and we will not tolerate violence or any threatening behavior.
“Anyone who uses threatening or intimidating behavior will be banned for six months. Anyone who uses or approaches violence will be sentenced to life imprisonment and reported to the police. “
With the rain falling on Lancashire, many pubs have made the decision not to open today based on their level of outdoor shelter.
