Anthony Mantha fined for goalkeeper interference, Dmitry Orlov avoids discipline for Miller’s shot – fr

The NHL Player Safety Department announced Saturday morning that the Caps are attacking Anthony Mantha was fined $ 5,000 for goalie interference.

Too, Samantha Pell du Washington Post reports that Dmitry Orlov will face no additional discipline for his success over Kevan Miller.

Mantha’s fine is the maximum the NHL can award a player. From DoPS:

Mantha won this one by smashing the Boston goalie’s net Tuukka Rask.

Meanwhile, Samantha Pell reports that Dmitry Orlov is off the hook for this blow on Kevan Miller.

Orlov launches into the kick, which is both high and late, though he doesn’t hit Miller’s head. However, Miller hit his head on the ice while falling, resulting in a short hospital stay. Orlov was initially given a major penalty on the play, but it was reduced to a minor double upon review. Athletic’s Fluto Shinzawa reports today that Miller is now home and feeling better, but he won’t be available for Sunday’s game.

The Caps welcome the Bruins on Sunday at 7 p.m.
