Minnesota and Wisconsin health officials on Saturday reported 58 new cases of COVID-19 and one additional death in the 10-county area of ​​Northland.

The deceased was a resident of Lake County in the early 1980s. Lake County has now lost 20 lives to COVID-19.

New cases and seven-day averages in Northland counties:

  • Itasca – 16; 20.7.

Another 657 people in northeastern Minnesota received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, bringing the total to 164,162 people in the seven-county area.

Ashland, Bayfield and Douglas counties collectively recorded 178 other first COVID-19 vaccinations on Saturday. More than 37,000 people in the three counties are currently receiving at least one dose.

Half of the total population of Northland is receiving at least one dose now. This percentage includes children under 12 who are not yet eligible for a vaccine.
