Tyson Fury says he will expose Anthony Joshua as a ‘fake’ in the ring because ‘he’s a businessman and I’m a Spartan’.
Fury, 32, spoke with Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn for the No Passion No Point podcast and detailed how he expects to beat his fellow Briton.
The pair are generally expected to fight this summer if their teams can finalize a long-standing agreement.
“I’m going to cut Anthony Joshua like a hot knife through cheese,” Fury said. “This is how it’s going to be easy. “
Addressing Hearn, Fury added, “Your boy, you built him from the ground up. You did a fantastic job by the way. You took an amateur boxer and made it the finished article. It’s a shame he must be around the same time as the “Gypsy King”.
“When it cracks in the jaw, it’s like a soft-boiled egg with a slit in the middle, it can’t be fixed. He will go.
“I’ll even tell you what a blow it’s going to be – it’ll be a left hook to the temple, his legs will go and he’ll fall on his face.” He can get up and I’ll hit him with a straight right. ”
“Spartan v businessman”
Fury sat down with Hearn in Arlington, Texas, where he supports fellow Briton Billy Joe Saunders, who fights Saul “Canelo” Alvarez for the WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight titles – a fight to be broadcast on the BBC. Radio 5 Live at 04:00 BST on Sunday.
Fury – the WBC heavyweight title holder – is set to face Joshua – the IBF, WBO and WBA champion – in Saudi Arabia in late July or early August.
Financial terms were reportedly agreed almost a year ago, but the final points of the deal are being worked out. Hearn told listeners to his podcast that he, Joshua, and Fury both plan to strike a deal.
“I can’t wait to get the big back in the ring and give him a good stash to prove to the world how fake he is,” added Fury.
“AJ couldn’t tie my boots. He doesn’t have the minerals to beat me. He’s a great champion. The real difference is that he is a businessman and I am a Spartan. We all have a few books, what is it? We’re all naked bums in the shower at the end of the day.
“You can have all the money in the world, what can you take with you? Nothing. Everything about this world will stay here but you know what, they will be talking about me 1000 years from now – the Gypsy King of England. “”
