West Ham have reportedly issued a provocative response to Manchester United about a possible swap deal involving Jesse Lingard and Declan Rice.
The Red Devils are believed to have made Irons vice-captain Rice a priority target ahead of the summer transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen his options as a midfielder.

Meanwhile, Lingard could move in the other direction after his hugely impressive performances since joining West Ham on loan in January, the most recent of which came against Leicester on Sunday.

The playmaker has returned forcibly to the England squad and his value has skyrocketed to £ 30million, in the eyes of Old Trafford bosses.

With West Ham intending to secure Lingard’s services on a permanent basis, Manchester United are reportedly keen to use the 28-year-old as a skinny in a swap deal for Rice.

But the Irons have issued a warning, insisting there is no chance the former Chelsea academy star will leave the London stadium this summer, according to The sun .

The report adds that West Ham is only interested in working on a deal for Lingard and will not accept any mention of Rice at the negotiating table.

The Three Lions mainstay is currently sidelined with a knee injury but is expected to be fit for the Euros this summer.

West Ham value Rice at over £ 100million and are confident he will want to stay given the growing possibility for the club to qualify for the Champions League.

The Irons are in fourth place in the Premier League after their 3-2 win over Leicester and David Moyes hailed the “incredible result” in the absence of key personnel.

“We played well for the first 60 minutes and we have a good team,” said the Irons boss.

“And the minute we’re also without two of our main players, so getting the results we’re getting is amazing. “
