The vehicle was jointly developed in partnership with Subaru (who will undoubtedly introduce their own car based on this concept), and is based on the new Plateforme e-TNGA, dedicated to battery electric vehicles.
“Developed jointly with Subaru, the Toyota bZ4X SUV concept is built on the new dedicated e-TNGA BEV platform. The concept conveys Toyota’s legendary quality, durability and long-term reliability (QDR) in combination with both comfortable and engaging experience capabilities. ”
We must admit that the car looks great (it reminds us of one of the pictures shown in 2019), both on the outside and inside:
As in other modern designs, we can see a predominantly closed front, long wheelbase with short overhangs, which increases cabin space.
The interior is quite nice, rather conventional and comfortable, but in line with modern trends: there is a large touchscreen in the center and center console with ample storage space. The only thing we might not like in the long run is the piano black finish, which typically captures fingerprints.
“The open concept interior is designed to improve driver comfort and confidence on the road. With every detail purposefully designed, the low position of the instrument panel and the location of meters above the steering wheel not only help to widen the feeling of space of the vehicle, but also help to increase visibility for safe driving and secure. ”
Technically, we only know that the bZ4X Concept is based on the e-TNGA platform and is all-wheel drive (with a strong contribution from Subaru on all-wheel drive). Of course, this is a two-motor system.
According to Toyota, the bZ4X Concept announces the first of seven Upcoming production bZ models to be launched worldwide by 2025. The total number of dedicated BEVs will then be 15.
The Toyota bZ4X will be produced in two countries: Japan and China. The company plans to start sales worldwide by mid-2022.
The good news is that the Toyota bZ4X is coming to the US, but there are no details yet:
“Toyota plans to produce the Toyota bZ4X in Japan and China; it hopes to begin global sales of the model by mid-2022. Details of US products will be shared later. ”
The other bZ models can be: BZ1, BZ2, BZ2X, BZ3, BZ4 and BZ5.
Bob Carter, Executive Vice President of Sales for TMNA, said:
“The Toyota bZ4X concept points to another option in our already robust electrified portfolio. At Toyota, we are a people-centric company – the customer is our CEO and will ultimately decide what technologies will lead us to a carbon neutral future. With investments and product offerings across the electrification spectrum, we intend to be there with products and technologies that meet the diverse needs of customers around the world. ”
