Roy Keane responded to Paul Pogba’s interview where the Manchester United midfielder delivered a damning verdict on Jose Mourinho.

Midfielder Pogba and Mourinho were not in the best condition at Old Trafford during their time together at the club.

The France World Cup winner called the Tottenham boss, who lost his job at White Hart Lane on Monday morning, saying Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would not turn on his players.

Man United legend Keane disagreed with Pogba and accused the midfielder of not showing up to the big games.

During Pogba’s interview with Sky Sports, Keane told Super Sunday: “I don’t think we’ve learned anything new (from the interview). This is the same thing that we have been saying for the past few years.

“Paul Pogba is a talented player. Absolutely, there is no escaping this. But I still think he doesn’t have enough at Man United.

“He mentioned that he fell out with Mourinho, which was obviously his big problem at the club. But even in recent months, we say he has had a great influence. I don’t agree with that, I think he’s playing well.

“He’s a good player, but I still think in some tough games he didn’t come. Leicester in the Cup was a great game for them, Man City at home.

“When United signed Paul Pogba, it wasn’t to play in the Europa League or the League Cup. I think Paul needs a big reminder of why he’s paying for Manchester United.

“(It was) big transfer fees, (he was signed) big salaries for United to compete and win Champions Leagues.”

Pogba and Mourinho often came to blows at United and this ultimately led to the latter's downfall.

Micah Richards, however, defended Pogba and insisted the midfielder always made United a better team with him.

“I think he’s world class,” Richards said. “He comes with the tag of being a bit out there because of social media and he’s the modern player. But they make a better team with him in there.

“At the end of the season, I would try to tie him up as soon as possible. It helped that Fernandes got in, it took the pressure off a bit.

“I agree that it is frustrating. But if United invested in the right players, they can be a force and be a better team with him.

Keane replied, “I think world class players improve the players around them. I’m not sure he’s doing that.

“I look at him and think he’s hijacking his team?” Is he pushing everyone? Does it produce? For me, the answer is always no. ”
