Los Blancos continue to make the World Cup-winning striker a top transfer target, but new terms could still be agreed at Parc des Princes

Real Madrid remain confident that Kylian Mbappe can be signed at some point in the near future, But has learned, but an extended stay at Paris Saint-Germain for the World Cup winner cannot be ruled out.

Discussions over new terms for the 22-year-old striker at Parc des Princes continue, with PSG keen to secure a new deal with a valuable asset that will arrive in free agency in 2022.

No compromise has yet been found, which leaves a door ajar, and Madrid will continue to closely monitor events in the French capital until final decisions are made.

Could Mbappe end up in Spain?

Sources close to Mbappe have revealed that the talented youngster retains a one-day childhood ambition by wearing Real Madrid’s famous white shirt.

Such a change can be put on hold, however, as no final call on its immediate future has been made.

It is understood that at least three offers from the reigning Ligue 1 champions have been rejected, but negotiations remain ongoing and a deal could still be signed.

Why did Mbappe not sign?

The France international is in no rush to end the uncertainty surrounding his future as his plan is to wait until the end of the season and assess where PSG is at this stage.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side remain on the hunt for Ligue 1 and Champions League glory, with major silverware still a useful negotiating tool, and looking to secure further deals.

Mbappe wants to know what Neymar, also under contract until 2022, has planned before committing to a new deal, while also looking to see who will field PSG for the next transfer window.

Can Madrid put together a deal?

There is growing confidence at the Santiago Bernabeu that the hard work behind the scenes with Mbappe will pay off.

Prominent members of the club’s management structure, as well as first team coach Zinedine Zidane, have worked hard to build a positive relationship with one of the most sought-after talents in world football.

Trips have been made to France, calls have been made, messages sent, with Los Blancos making sure details are blocked.

Those in Spain recognize that they cannot compete financially with PSG, but they can offer an ambitious project, a leading role in their long-term plans and increased sporting prestige.

The big picture

They truly believe they can give Mbappe everything he needs on a personal and professional level, up to him to decide which path he takes at an important crossroads in his career.

A top Bernabeu official said: “It will depend on whether he wants to be in a ‘golden prison’ or succeed here. ”

Unfortunately for Los Blancos, acquiring Mbappe will not be easy no matter what.

He is expected to inform PSG of his desire to move on, leaving them in need of a suitable replacement.

We would have to agree on a fee that works for all parties, because the French cannot afford to lose one of the best talents for nothing next year.

Real Madrid may finally have their man, Florentino Perez looking for another ‘Galactico’ after being re-elected to Madrid, but there is still a long way to go before that dream becomes reality.
