Chris had the difficult task of being matched with Vucevic. Despite that, Boucher had some insane offensive possessions, splashing out a few threes and steadily cutting the backdoor on Vuc to get lobs. He was also active on glass which was nice to see him against bigger bodies. Chris and Pascal easily carried the team tonight. The Montreal product had a career record in points (38 !!!) and rebounds and almost triggered a late comeback on its own.

M. Flynn35 MIN, 9 PTS, 3 REB, 7 AST, 2 STL, 3-11 FG, 3-7 3FG, 0-0 PI, 0 BLK, 2 TO, 6 +/-

Flynn on his first start was about as good as one would expect for a player of his caliber. He has a few defensive chops compared to other rookie guards, but he got cooked on a number of occasions. Flynn has done some great reads on the game, on what you’d expect from a backup guard cast in a starter role. He was invisible on offense like a lot of the Raptors tonight, but it’s about equal for Flynn outside of a few games this season. Took a confusing photo with less than two minutes to go just as the Raptors prepared for a comeback, then pulled off a layup shortly after. Sorry, RAPTOR NATION.

G. Trent38 MIN, 6 PTS, 1 REB, 1 AST, 0 STL, 2-14 FG, 1-7 3FG, 1-1 PI, 0 BLK, 3 TO, -22 +/-

Trent was unimpressive to say the least. He missed 8 shots before making a basket on his 9th attempt. Opened the third quarter with a bad assist and it just wasn’t his night. He was effective on Lavine for at least a few possessions, but Lavine still ended up cooking on the game as a whole.

After his ejection against the Lakers on Tuesday, OG was probably happy to just have a full game. In one of the first games of the match, he took a nice kick on Vucevic to go straight to the edge. Thad Young bullied him early on but he was probably the most consistent Raptor in defense tonight, as usual. Very ineffective, which is unusual for him. A few wide open shots have sprung up. Populated the stat sheet with 6 assists and 3 steals, so it’s always nice to see that from the prince.

Pascal was awesome and did his best to wear this skeleton on his back before Boucher took over in the dying minutes. He had a good three-point plot and rolled over Theis at the end of the first quarter. He was the only one going really offensive, but he got lazy on the perimeter a few times which led to buckets like Coby White. He’s been largely successful in reaching the rim, which is to be expected against a big, below-par defensive end like Vucevic.

A. Baynes17 MIN, 6 PTS, 4 REB, 0 AST, 1 STL, 3-6 FG, 0-2 3FG, 0-0 PI, 0 BLACK, 0 AT, -22 +/-

It’s a new trend from Baynes coming off the bench, and something tells me that trend is going to continue once Khem Birch arrives. Don’t expect Khem Birch to be the savior of the season as he is posting similar numbers to Baynes. Still, it will be nice to have a big one who can catch the ball and move around. Baynes actually got an offensive rebound tonight that almost got me out of my seat. He didn’t do much else.

Y. Watanabe16 MIN, 7 PTS, 2 REB, 1 AST, 1 STL, 3-3 FG, 1-1 3FG, 0-0 PI, 0 BLACK, 0 AT, -5 +/-

Had a good steal in a breakaway bucket in the 2nd quarter, played in the movement of the attack as he usually does, and was just a constant presence on the bench. Made a nice 3 in the third quarter while keeping his energy in defense.

S. Johnson15 MIN, 7 PTS, 0 REB, 1 AST, 2 STL, 2-5 FG, 0-0 3FG, 3-4 PI, 1 BLACK, 0 AT, -14 +/-

Had a good flight on Theis in the first quarter where he then drove for one and one. A few plays later, Stan further stated his dislike of Theis with a nice block from behind. Other than that, it didn’t really have much of an impact on the outcome.

Nick nurse

Nurse was forced to play castrated Raps squad for what appears to be the umpteenth time this season. He can’t really do much when it comes to rotations since only 8 players were available. Despite that, giving Flynn and Boucher an extended run is a good thing.
