Paul Scholes believes that if Manchester United signs Jadon Sancho it could impact Mason Greenwood’s development.
MEN Sport understand that United are refusing to rule out a move for the Borussia Dortmund winger, despite Erling Haaland being the club’s main summer goal.

The Bundesliga club have shown their willingness to part ways with Sancho, with Dortmund risking missing out on Champions League football next season.

United wanted to sign Sancho last summer, but refused to meet Dortmund’s asking price of £ 110million and MEN understand the club have ended talks on a possible transfer with Sancho’s agent Emeka Obasi , three weeks before the summer transfer window closes.

Two former United midfielders Scholes and Owen Hargreaves disagree over the 21-year-old and whether their former club should sign him or not.

Hargreaves told BT Sport: “I don’t think it’s realistic for United to win the Premier League next season.

“They have to find a way to close that gap, they fill that gap by getting another central defender, another midfielder and a right winger.

“A lot of people have played on that right side, but they haven’t really found it.

“Jadon Sancho would be amazing, you think Raphinha in Leeds, what he could do in this United team, there are obviously levels.

“You can’t spend £ 100million on every player, do you know what I mean? “

Scholes then replied, “I think it might stop Greenwood’s likes by signing Sancho.

“I know what you’re saying with Sancho, but Mason Greenwood was the best player on the right side.

“Marcus doesn’t like to play there, Martial doesn’t like to play there, they both like to come to the other side and Mason was the best player there.

“I understand what you’re saying about Sancho, but what I see in Sancho is that he would be more creative, he would have a better connection with a center forward, they would like to play with him a little more. than Mason Greenwood or Marcus Rashford because they’re more head-down dribblers, want to score goals, when this guy can do both.

“He’s a sensational player, I just wonder if he looks a bit like what United already have in these areas. “

Before Hargreaves concludes, “I know what you mean, I think a lot of people think they’re really similar, but Jadon gets you over 20 assists, while Mason has five this year, Marcus in. has many more, Martial has a few. Jadon will give you 20, then the other boys will score you five or eight more goals per season.

“I think there are a lot of areas United need to tackle, you can’t tackle them all.

“Cavani is staying, so you can go and invest the money in positions that need to be settled. “
