According to The Mirror, Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has told his friends he sees his future at Barcelona, not Anfield.
Wijnaldum is out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the season and no new deal is in place.
Barcelona are keen to sign the Dutch international midfielder for a free transfer in the summer of 2021, and the 30-year-old are considering a move to Camp Nou, according to the report.
The former Newcastle United midfielder – described as ‘exceptional’ by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on Sky Sports in November 2020 – has reportedly told his friends in the Netherlands that he sees his future at Camp Nou.
Liverpool exit inevitable?
With a few weeks to go until the end of the season, it looks like Wijnaldum will be leaving Liverpool on a free transfer.
If a deal were to be reached it would have been settled by now, and signs suggest the Netherlands international will be at another club next season.
According to WhoScored, Wijnaldum has scored two goals in 31 Premier League games and made nine Champions League appearances for the Reds this season.
