For our new readers and members, the Top Six Minutes is a continuation of the in-game thread discussion. We try to keep it light and entertaining. Full recaps are available the morning after each game.

  • Chiarot is back for game number 400! Maybe he’ll be what the defense needs.
  • Sixth consecutive start for Jake Allen.
  • If we could just ask our best sleuth to find out what’s really going on with Price, at least we would get a feel for when poor Allen is having a break.

First period

  • We are almost five minutes and the Habs did not record a shot on goal.
  • To be honest, it’s not the number of SOGs, it’s the number of pucks that go in. Amiright?
  • Canadians seem to be afraid of, well… of doing really anything. If you’re afraid of making a mistake and losing, doing nothing will get you there too, so give and see what happens.
  • Edmondson is called to board and is the first to sit in the lodge. Obviously, that wasn’t intentional considering the “whoopsi” look on his face after this happened.
  • Romanov took on Allen’s bodyguard role tonight and it’s awesome.
  • Our turn on the power play. This is the perfect time to open the scoring if you ask me.
  • Or, you know, we can wait until the second half.

Second period

  • Anderson leading towards the net can’t get the shot, but he can take a penalty so we have another chance on the power play.
  • Tatar fans on the stopwatch and look at his stick. Obviously, this stick goes in the trash.
  • Allen manages to get his stick through his empty net to stop Tkachuk. Nice, Jake!
  • It’s goal number 20 for Toffoli and we finally have a match underway!
  • Two stations for Calgary in about 10 seconds.
  • Lehky clears the puck to stop the panic.
  • Another post for Calgary. Again, Tkachuk cannot succeed in a wide open net.
  • While I’m glad Allen got some help from his post, some help from his team would be even better.

Third period

  • Allen is hopping on the rebound to keep everything as it should, if you understand my drift.
  • A turnover by Weber and Lindholm’s shot bounces off Chiarot and there’s Allen’s shutout. It cannot be the way the defense is supposed to work.
  • Four on four, we go as Toffoli and Backlund head to the trash can for roughing.
  • Score 21 goals for Toffoli! AND back in the lead to start!
  • Looks like the goal is to go to Armia instead. I really don’t care.
  • We won!
