What is a strawberry birthmark?

A strawberry birthmark is made up of blood vessels that form a red lump on the skin and appear soon after birth.

They are more common in girls, premature babies (born before 37 weeks), low birth weight babies, and multiple births, such as twins.

Usually, birthmarks shrink and disappear by the age of seven, but they often get bigger during the first 6 to 12 months of a child’s life.

Strawberry birthmarks may need treatment if they affect vision, breathing, or eating.

Other common birthmarks include salmon stains or stork marks as well as port wine stains and latte stains.

Molly-Mae said, “I just wasn’t confident about it and as I got older the color faded a bit but the birthmarks are cool. Own them, rock them. The only reason I had mine removed was because it was in a prominent area, right on my head.
