Teenage center-back Will Fish trained with Manchester United first team ahead of the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Granada.
The 18-year-old joined Tuesday’s session at Carrington with United running out of numbers at the back ahead of the Old Trafford game.

Fish has been a regular in Premier League 2 this season, making 17 appearances in that competition for Neil Wood’s side. His promotion to first-team training this week comes with Harry Maguire suspended for the second leg against the La Liga side, while Eric Bailly is due to return this week after self-isolating in Ivory Coast after have tested positive for Covid-19.

Bailly is expected to be available for the draw against Granada, which United lead 2-0 after the first leg, while Axel Tuanzebe is also an option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Fish is not currently in the squad of the Europa League.

He was joined in the formation of the first team by his fellow academy graduates Shola Shoretire, 17, and Anthony Elanga, 18, who have been more consistent in the senior ranks in recent weeks.

Elanga was on the bench in Granada a week ago after being added to the Europa League squad ahead of the draw, while Shoretire made his debut in the last draw against Real Sociedad.

Teenager Amad also trained ahead of Thursday’s game as he seeks a first start for United after his transfer from Atalanta was completed in January.

Elanga played for United’s Under-23s on Friday night, starting and scoring in a 3-2 loss to West Ham, while Shoretire and Fish both played the full 90 minutes of that game.

Elanga recently signed a long-term deal with United and Solskjaer said last week his promotion to the senior squad was deserved.

“He’s impressed when he trains with us. He was very unlucky a couple of months ago when he was badly injured and he worked really hard to come back because he just had to get into the first team at the time, ”Solskjaer said.

“He has an X factor, attributes. It’s not like a gift, but the pace, the acceleration and the speed he has is a given for the wingers. When he has that speed, he always has qualities that I like. He’s a scoring winger, he’s confident. He likes to beat men and can finish with his right and left foot and he has a great attitude.

“He has an appetite and a thirst to improve and when he trains with us he doesn’t mind. He is confident. He’s not just here for the experience, he’s ready to play a role if need be.

In addition to Maguire, United will be without Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay in suspension on Thursday.
