SASKATOON – Sheena Hearn’s six children mourn the sudden loss of their mother, some too young to realize she is gone.

“They are struggling, especially the older ones, they miss their mother, they don’t know how to deal with it,” said Ty-Ara Fossum, Hearn’s younger sister.

“Mia, she’s three years old and she doesn’t understand. She Wants To Talk To Mum, She Wants To Text Mum, She Wants Mommy FaceTime. It’s hard to explain this to a three-year-old.

Hearn, 36, from Eatonia was the victim of a fatal single vehicle rollover south of Kindersley earlier this week.

She died of her injuries at the scene along Highway 21 Tuesday night.

Hearn was the sole occupant of the vehicle, according to the RCMP.

“She passed away very quickly. I don’t believe she was in pain, which I guess was a blessing, ”Fossum said.

She said she learned of her sister’s death from her older niece who messaged her on Facebook Tuesday night.

“She says ‘my mother is dead, my mother is dead’. So I called her and she was bawling. No one else was notified, so we spent the better part of an hour trying to contact the RCMP to find out if they were really dead or if it was just a mistake, if they were. had just found the wrong person. But they were all busy at the scene, so it took about an hour and a half before we got confirmation of his death.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Hearn leaves behind five daughters and a son, ages one to 12.

Fossum said she is now looking after all six of them along with her three own children.

She said her sister was a loving mother and would do anything for her children.

“I have never met someone with a heart like hers. She loved everyone with every ounce of her heart and it’s gonna be so hard living by those standards but we’re gonna love these kids as much as she loved her because I don’t think anyone can ever love them like her did.

The family set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral costs and to make sure they have enough money to look after Hearn’s six children and save for their education.

“We wanted to make sure they are financially secure for their future. We want to make sure they have everything they need from this day forward.

Fossum said she was grateful for all the support her family received from the people of Saskatchewan.

“It was incredible, I’m overwhelmed. We have people dropping off stuff we’ve never met before, people donating to our GoFundMe. When we got home after picking up (the kids), every cupboard was full of food, we had crates of clothes and baby toys. We had everything in place before we had a chance to ask for help, which was wonderful.

Fossum said she and the children were working to adjust to their new lifestyles and heal one day at a time.

“They are safe and we will be working on the healing and all the sorrows they have in the past. They are in pain and we are working on them every hour.
