Liam – who is now engaged to Maya Henry – told Glamor, “Cheryl is literally the best person to co-parent with. No stress involved. It’s very, very relaxed and we spend a lot of time on FaceTime.

“But FaceTime at bedtime can go really well sometimes. Or I bought her some toys yesterday that I showed them on FaceTime and it felt like I had to go travel and put the toys over the fence!

Speaking on an Instagram Live with producer Ben Winston, with whom he worked on several One Direction music videos and their 2013 documentary This Is Us, Liam offered a rare glimpse into his son’s visit.

He said: “I went to see Bear today, we had a little hangout, which was good as I hadn’t seen him for a few weeks.

“It’s difficult with COVID because I have to make sure I’m negative before going to see it, so you have to wait a few days before you can test, so …

“He’s only on the street and it’s completely complicated, but he’s grown so big, huge. “

He said in an interview with People: “For me, it really kick-started Christmas. I moved from home when I was 17, so Christmas took on a whole new meaning.

Before the Level 4 restrictions were introduced at Christmas, Cheryl, 37, confirmed that she was spending Christmas with Liam so they could both enjoy the day with their son amid the pandemic.

She said on Jessie Ware’s Table Manners podcast, “It’ll probably just be me, my mom, and Liam. My mom makes a great roast, and Liam normally makes the meat on Christmas. He is really good at it and goes all out.

“We watch the movie Home Alone. Both [films], I always play them back to back. I love it. I think it’s because it reminds me of when I was a kid.

“I love mulled wine. I love that everyone wears the same pajamas on Christmas Eve… This year we will have Disney ones.
