Our journey begins at the front where you’ll find a new mesh-style grille made up of L-shaped elements. You’ll find the new grille everywhere except on the F Sport models, which still get their own special treatment. Flanking the grille are the updated bi-LED headlights we saw in the April 12 teaser. Standard models will receive new 17-inch wheels, and two new shades of silver and gray will join the exterior color scheme, replacing three going out shades of silver and gray. Inside, the brake pedal is wider and the multimedia screen is a little more forward. That’s it, so when it comes to facelifts, this one is pretty minimal, indeed.
However, bring your attention back to the center display. It’s now a proper touchscreen allowing more intuitive control of its functions, although if you still prefer to use the touchscreen remotely, it’s there. Speaking of technology, the 2022 ES gets the standard Lexus +2.5 Safety System, which includes enhancements to the lens camera and radar used for frontal detection, collision warning, and automatic braking systems. . The Pre-Collision System (PCS) can also better recognize oncoming vehicles or pedestrians during turns, and a new PCS emergency steering assist feature can improve stability during evasive maneuvers.For cruising, the dynamic cruise control system can automatically increase speed to overtake slower cars when you change lanes, accelerating back to your original setting. Likewise, the system can also automatically reduce speed in certain types of turns. Lexus has also made improvements to the lane departure system for better lane recognition.
The changes for 2022 are not entirely commercial. For the first time, Lexus brightens up its 300h hybrid with an F Sport offer. The updates here are just deep, including a sleek grille with dark surrounds, trunk spoiler, exclusive 19-inch black wheels, and blacker trim on the inside and outside of the car. Naturally, it’s also filled with F Sport badges to make sure people know it’s something special.
Upgrade to the pure combustion ES350 F Sport and you’ll find a new Dynamics Management Package that includes Sport + and Custom Drive modes. Lexus claims that the adaptive variable suspension below is capable of 650 levels of tuning based on everything from G loads to vehicle speed, steering angle, various engine parameters, and more. Regardless of the finish, all ES 2022 models benefit from a new rear suspension reinforcement for better rigidity, stability and comfort. All models also have optimized braking systems.
Lexus is not ready to talk about the price of the modified 2022 models. This will be closer to the arrival of the sedan dealership, scheduled for fall 2021.
