Jose Mourinho has spoken for the first time since being sacked by Tottenham.
The Portuguese manager was sacked by Spurs on Monday morning after their 2-2 draw with Everton on Friday night.

The stalemate at Goodison Park leaves Tottenham seventh in the Premier League, with only low hopes of a top-four finish.

Mourinho’s disappointing 17 months in north London raise serious questions as to whether he is still the world coach he once was, as he leaves without a trophy in his name.

But the 58-year-old stressed that he is still the subject of as much interest as ever with a video posted to his Instagram account.

“They don’t give me privacy,” Mourinho said, filming the herd of cameras and journalists outside his home. “Even my friend Gary [Sky Sports’ Gary Cotterill] bothers me. It’s my life. “

Moments later, Mourinho was asked if he had any comments regarding his departure and said Sky Sports : “You know me, you know I’m not going to say anything. ”

When asked if fans would see him again in the canoe anytime soon, or if he needed a chance to recharge his batteries, he replied, “No need. No need for breaks and batteries. “

Mourinho added: “I’m still in football. “

In Spurs’ statement confirming Mourinho’s departure, president Daniel Levy wrote: “Jose and his coaching staff have gone through some of our most difficult times as a club.

“Jose is a true professional who has shown tremendous resilience during the pandemic. On a personal level, I enjoyed working with him and I regret that things did not work out the way we both envisioned.

“He will always be welcome here and we would like to thank him and his coaching team for their contribution. “
