Jason Isbell apparently did it all. Beyond his Grammy-winning musical career, he inadvertently played a role in creating the 30-50 Wild Hogs meme, and wrote a song for A star is born it is arguably Bradley Cooper’s best solo track. And now he can add another milestone to his vast resume: star in a Martin Scorsese film. By Osage news, Isbell will make his acting debut in the Scorsese adaptation of The Flower Moon Killers, alongside Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jesse Plemons.

According to Osage news, “The story details the systematic murders of members of the Osage tribe in the 1920s and chronicles the birth of the Federal Bureau of Investigation which investigated and uncovered the plot to kill the Osage for their oil wealth.” The story centers on criminal mastermind William “Bill” Hale, who will be played by De Niro. Isbell will play Bill Smith, who was the husband of Reta Smith, “the younger sister of Mollie Burkhart who is tragically killed when Bill Hale’s associates blow up her house with dynamite.”

He will also be joined by fellow country star Sturgill Simpson, who will play Henry Grammer, “an infamous rodeo champion and bootlegger and good friend of Hale.” Simpson had already appeared in Reine and Slim and The hunt, so this is not his first cinematic rodeo. Twilight Saga: EclipseWilliam Belleau and IrishLouis Cancelmi are also new additions to the cast.
